New World Launches To Record-Breaking Numbers on Steam, Second Best Debut of the Year
Amazon’s New World has launched to the second-best debut in 2021 on Steam, just behind Valheim. It is turning out to be a new phenomenon.
While Amazon didn’t have much of a success with their games, New World turned out to be a surprise hit for them. It wasn’t received that well in its Alpha phase but after the rollout of the first public beta, it became something of a cult hit and started to gain traction among PC gamers.
The beta put the game in the spotlight making it garner a lot of attention. The game was set to launch on September 28, and sure enough, after the hype of the beta test, it has opened to a record amount of concurrent users.
The concurrent player count of Steam has surpassed 300K according to Steam Database, and it might go even higher during the weekend when more people will get a chance to check it out. The record of the best debut on Steam in 2021 belongs to Valheim, which had around half-million concurrent players.
Amazon’s New World is available for $39.99 for the Standard Edition. It was developed by Amazon Games. Here are the PC system requirements.
