Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has received a file size on the PS5 and it is smaller than the original game on PS4 if we compare both versions.
The original Final Fantasy VII Remake was one of the biggest games on the PS4. It shipped on two discs and had a requirement of having 100 GB of hard disk space. The file size was just under 100 GB and weighed around 90 GB.
The new game adds new visual features and a story expansion featuring Yuffie and yet it has a smaller size. This is a growing trend of games that offer smaller file sizes on the PS5 compared to the PS4. This is even though there are pre-rendered videos in the game and new ones might be added with the story expansion featuring Yuffie.
According to this Twitter account, the file size of the game is around 81 GB. The file size of the PS4 version was roughly 90 GB at launch and it didn’t receive any major patch to push it above that after launch. The only update that is available for the game is just under 500 MB and the last patch was pushed to add support for the PS4 to PS5 save data transfer.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be a free upgrade for the existing owners of the game but those who received it as part of the PS Plus promotion won’t be able to use this offer. They need to purchase the full game to get the free upgrade. Aside from the upgrade, the new Intermission DLC has to be purchased separately from the main game.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on June 11, 2021, for the PS5. The game was developed and published by Square Enix. It is six months timed exclusive for the PS5.
