Halo Infinite Special Edition Console Already Sold Out, Game Releasing On December 8

Halo Infinite fans don’t have to wait that long to get their hands on the game, even though it won’t launch with Forge or co-op campaign at launch.

During the Gamescom Opening Night Live, Microsoft dropped two major news related to the Halo series. The first one is the release date of the game, which has been teased for a while, and it is now confirmed to arrive on December 8. This puts the game ahead of other major first-person shooters including Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042.

The second announcement was related to the special edition console of Halo Infinite. This will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series. While the game is not out until December 8th, the console is expected to arrive on November 15, 2021. This means you will have some time to play games on it before the launch of Halo Infinite. This console already appears to be sold out, so yeh, you won’t really have a chance to get it unless you can keep refreshing retailers when it goes back in stock.

Halo Infinite will support 4K at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series, while 120 FPS support is also confirmed. During the beta, the game was apparently running at 30 FPS on Xbox One, but perhaps that can change as it launches later this year.

We still haven’t seen footage from the campaign, but Microsoft instead opted to show the first season of Halo Infinite multiplayer with a cinematic trailer.

Looks like Microsoft is fully prepared to dive into the same games-as-a-service environment for the upcoming multiplayer as some of other bigger games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Battlefield. It was already confirmed that there won’t be any loot boxes or microtransactions in the game, so expect to see a typical battle pass system.
