Project CARS 3 Day One Update Is Massive, File Size Revealed

by Ali Haider

Project CARS 3 is out in a week. It has received a massive day one update. Those who purchase a retail copy are in trouble as it is a mandatory update.

Slightly Mad Studios has a knack for releasing major day one updates based on their recent games. First, we had Fast and Furious: Crossroads, which launched with an update that was almost equal to its full game file size. Their second game is Project CARS 3, again published by Bandai Namco.

Just like Fast and Furious: Crossroads, Project Cars 3 has a massive day one update that exceeds 30+ GB. The full game file size is 38.4 GB The day one update which patches the game to version 1.02 is 35.6 GB.

There is no changelog for the bugs that are fixed in this update but with such an unusually large update size, we have to wonder why the developers have to rush with releasing their games in such a dire state. They could take the time to make sure any critical bugs are fixed before going for a retail copy. Digital users won’t have to deal with the additional download as this patch is included with whatever is available to pre-load on the digital store.

Since both of these games were from the same developer, we have to wonder why they are slightly mad (pun intended) to release such huge mandatory updates. While Fast and Furious: Crossroads can be played in single-player, Project CARS 3 also offers multiplayer which means it is necessary to have the latest updated version.
