PS5 Download Queue Issue Reported, Here’s a Temporary Fix

by Salal Awan

There is currently an issue with how the PS5 manages downloads which can lead to the system showing the download in a queue when it is not working.

After the launch of the PS5, there have been several reports from users regarding downloading games. The PS5 subreddit has multiple users complaining about this issue where downloading a game initiates a process showing that it is in the download queue, but the queue itself is just empty while the progress bar remains stuck at 0% for the download.

This is best seen in the screenshot that was shared by a reddit user who was facing this problem with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Apparently, the PS4 version can download fine, however, when it comes to downloading the PS5 version, the console appears to show this error.

Is anyone else having this issue? I’m able to download the ps4 version on ps5 just fine, but the ps5 version is “in the download queue” except the queue is empty

This is not specific to Black Ops Cold War. It has been reported a lot of times on the PlayStation 5 subreddit with games like Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and even apps like Disney+.

Thankfully, there is a simple but annoying fix to solve this problem on a PlayStation 5. That is until Sony releases a system software update for the console that might solve it once and for all.

How To Fix PS5 Download Queue Error?

The simple way to fix this issue, for now, is to do a factory reset of the PlayStation 5. This will let the user download the game without them showing up stuck in a queue. The long-term solution is to wait for a firmware update from Sony that will fix the issue. As of right now, there is no indication if an update is planned in the near future.
