Resident Evil 3 has been updated on the Xbox One. This has led to Capcom dropping the resolution on the game and improved the frame rate for Xbox One X.
Resident Evil 3 Remake was a native 4K game on the Xbox One X, however, it also led to a drop in the frame rate which couldn’t hit the 60 FPS target. It was a worse average frame rate than the PS4 Pro, which runs at a lower resolution.

Capcom has managed to solve this issue by releasing an update later today. It drops the resolution from a native 4K to roughly 1600p as per NXGamer. This is also verified by a frame rate test done by YouTube channel VGTech, which confirms that the game now runs at a locked 60 FPS on the Xbox One X.
“Xbox One X on version 1.0.0.5 renders at a resolution of 2880×1620 and Xbox One X on version 1.0.0.4 renders at a resolution of 3840×2160. Both versions seem to be using a form of Checkerboard Rendering to reach their stated resolutions, ” said VGTech in their analysis of the new patch.

Resident Evil 2 Remake also followed a similar resolution approach to offer locked 60 FPS on the Xbox One X. The game, by contrast, runs at a resolution lower than 1600p on the PS4 Pro and 1080p on the base PS4. It runs at an unlocked frame rate otherwise that manages to hit 60 FPS on both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
The game is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It was released on April 4. The main developer behind this new remake is M-Two, who is also reportedly working on another Resident Evil remake.
