Sony Updates CES Video To Remove Mention of Most Upcoming PS5 Exclusives

by Salal Awan

Sony has updated its CES 2021 video to remove mentions of any upcoming PS5 exclusives that didn’t have a release date including Project Athia.

During their CES 2021 presentation, Sony had shared a list of exclusives releasing for the PS5 in 2021 and beyond. It also included some surprises like the release window of Project Athia was January 2022, which was a lot sooner than what most fans were expecting from it.

Here’s what they had listed in the original video.

  • Project Athia – January 2022.
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – 2021.
  • Horizon Forbidden West – 2021.
  • Returnal – March 2021.
  • Kena – March 2021.
  • Solar Ash – June 2021.
  • Stray – October 2021.
  • GhostWire: Tokyo – October 2021.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is currently scheduled for Q1 2021 but it was reportedly launching in March as per the video. Similarly, Project Athia had no release window but it was listed as January 2022 launch game.

After the update made to the video, there is no mention of these games. The only thing that appears to have remained is the release window of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West, both of which are on track to launch in 2021.

So it appears that Sony might have jumped the gun and shared some of the release dates that weren’t officially verified by the developers and might just be a target for them. Due to the uncertain situation of COVID-19 and its impact on development, games like Hogwarts Legacy are getting delayed to 2022 and there is a good chance that some of these announced exclusives will be pushed further in order to complete their development.
