Star Wars fans have been clamoring for a single-player experience for a while now but their wishes might be fulfilled soon with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It is not going to use Frostbite Engine unlike Anthem and Battlefront 2.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order details will be revealed at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. The artwork for the game was leaked through Amazon.
Kotaku recently published a detailed breakdown of what went wrong with Anthem and one of the major reasons was listed as Frostbite Engine. The author of this article, Jason Schrier, has now confirmed that the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won’t run on Frostbite Engine. It is also the first single-player Star Wars game releasing this generation.
Jason was highly optimistic of the game’s prospects in his Tweet in which he mentioned the single-player aspect of the game along with the lack of Frostbite engine.

“It’s the first single-player Star Wars game in forever, there’s a ton of talent on the team, and they’ve had a fair amount of time to work on it. And hey, if it’s a big success maybe it’ll even convince EA that not everything needs to be on Frostbite.”
It has also been officially confirmed some time ago by Community Engagement Specialist, Jay Ingram in a post over at Reddit.
“This is mostly correct. Respawn was already going to make the game and we were going to publish it before they were part of EA (which was after we had the license), ” said Jay.

“We acquired the studio during the game’s development (while already partnered with them), so there was no point in restarting it just to put it on our engine.”
There is not much known about the game officially aside from some leaks, but the story is confirmed to be set after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
