Aniimo will launch on September 16 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Pawprint Studio has announced at gamescom Opening Night Live. The free-to-play creature-catching open-world RPG will arrive on mobile a week later, launching on September 23 for iOS and Android.
The new release date was revealed alongside a trailer showcasing the world of Idyll and the magical creatures that inhabit it. Players take on the role of Pathfinders and can discover, capture, battle, upgrade, research and evolve the creatures known as Aniimo.
More than 200 Aniimo will be available at launch, with different forms appearing depending on factors such as weather conditions and the biome being explored. The game will feature multiple interconnected ecosystems, including Driftwise Meadow, Sandcastle Hill and Rosetower Wood, each with its own environmental characteristics and Aniimo behaviours.
One of the game’s central mechanics is Twining, which allows players to merge with their Aniimo. Doing so unlocks additional abilities and perspectives while changing how players move through, explore and fight across Idyll.
Twining also provides a way to experience Aniimo society from a different perspective. Players can observe the creatures’ daily interactions and habits while exploring the world through the Aniimo they have merged with.
Aniimo will also feature both cooperative and competitive multiplayer. PvP activities such as Egg Heist allow teams to compete against one another, while cooperative features let players call for assistance, invite others to specific locations or instantly bring allies to their position.
The Homeland system provides another layer of gameplay outside exploration and combat. Players can work with their Aniimo to farm and harvest resources, customise their home and enjoy activities such as fairground rides. Facilities within the Homeland can be powered by Aniimo and accessed from the RV Campsite.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can also pre-order 2 optional packs. The Aniimo Pre-Order Pack: Advanced Edition and Aniimo Pre-Order Pack: Collector’s Edition include in-game rewards such as the platform-exclusive Fluffy Friend accessory and an in-game battle pass.
Aniimo will launch on September 16 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The mobile version will follow on September 23 through the App Store and Google Play.
