ARC Raiders Frozen Trail Update Adds New Map and Weapons

by Greg Martin

ARC Raiders will receive its Frozen Trail update on October 8, adding the new Pendola Pass map alongside new enemies, weapons, gadgets and an expanded Raider Den. The update will also introduce new progression systems and additional ways for players to customise their equipment.

Pendola Pass is an old Italian village and former Exodus transport hub located beyond the Rust Belt. Players will be sent there after the fall of one of the Emperors, with rare technology available inside, although the area will be affected by ARC activity and sudden flash freezes.

A new ARC operation called Frigate will also challenge experienced Raiders. The large vessel requires players to board it, navigate its interior, unlock routes and fight ARC machines, while other Raiders compete for the same objectives.

Three new enemies are being introduced:

  • Bully: An aggressive machine that charges players and uses multiple attacks
  • Skulker: An opportunistic enemy that stays out of sight before launching attacks
  • Hydra: A three-part turret equipped with three types of weapons, found aboard the Frigate

The update will also expand the Raider Den with the Outpost, a customisable home where players can install modules and furniture. Its Research Workstation provides access to higher levels of weapon customisation and modification.

Fully upgrading the Research Workstation unlocks a fifth quality tier for 15 weapons. These Amplified Weapons can gain branching abilities that alter how they function, with examples including a fully automatic Burletta, a scoped Renegade and a Rattler with incendiary ammunition and a 64-round magazine.

Two new weapons are also coming. The Stiletto is a light-ammo battle rifle designed as an early-game alternative to the Renegade, while the Bantam is a heavy-ammo snub-nosed revolver with a dedicated hip-fire capability.

The Grappling Hook adds new traversal options, while the Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade introduce ways to restrain or reposition enemies. A new camera gadget will also let players take photographs using features including zoom, aperture, manual and automatic focus and selfie mode.

Frozen Trail will additionally introduce the Harmonica and Banjo instruments, Weapon Stencils for customising weapon appearances, and the new Reward Pass progression system.

The free Reward Pass includes 200 Raider Tokens, five outfits and 20 cosmetic items, while the Premium Pass adds outfit toggles, exclusive colourways, weapon stencils, hairstyles and 1,150 Raider Tokens. A free Legacy Pass will also combine existing Raider Decks without removing existing progress.

The Collector Set DLC includes both Reward Pass tracks, a Renzo cosmetic set, Dragon’s Breath Weapon Stencil, Bob Hair Style and 2,400 Raider Tokens.

Frozen Trail launches on October 8 alongside new questlines, improvements, a Skill Tree rework and a new Map Condition. A developer Q&A livestream is scheduled for September 25 at 6pm CEST on Twitch.
