A new rumour suggests that Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe is still some way off, with the next mainline entry in Ubisoft’s long-running series reportedly not expected to launch before the second half of 2027.
The claim comes from industry insider NateTheHate, who was asked on X when Ubisoft might reveal the game.
Responding to the question, he said: “Game won’t launch until second half of 2027, at earliest. They don’t need to rush a reveal/announcement.”
Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe was first announced in 2022 as part of Ubisoft’s roadmap for the franchise, but the company has revealed very little about the project since then.
Previous reports have suggested the game is being developed by Ubisoft Montréal and will feature a darker, more atmospheric setting centred on the witch trials of the Holy Roman Empire during the 16th and 17th centuries. It has also been rumoured to move away from the sprawling RPG design of recent entries in favour of a more focused, narrative-driven experience with an emphasis on stealth and survival.
The title forms part of Ubisoft’s broader Assassin’s Creed strategy, which also includes the Animus Hub platform, the multiplayer-focused Assassin’s Creed Invictus, the mobile title Assassin’s Creed Jade, and additional remakes of classic entries.
For now, Ubisoft has yet to announce a release window or gameplay reveal for Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. If NateTheHate’s information is accurate, fans may have to wait until at least the second half of 2027 before the game arrives.
