The PlayStation ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have reportedly sold more than 7 million units combined, according to a new rumour from CharlieIntel.
Citing sources familiar with the sales figures, CharlieIntel claimed that the two titles have surpassed the 7 million mark across PlayStation platforms. The outlet also reported that the decision to bring the games to PlayStation was made by Activision’s Strategy and Finance team.
Activision has not officially confirmed the reported sales figures.
The latest claim follows earlier reports that the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 had reached more than 5 million players within its first week of release. Data from the PS5 weekly active player stats widget, shared by Red Kong XIX on the ResetEra forums, indicated the game had attracted around 5.25 million players on the platform. During the same period, the original Call of Duty: Black Ops was reported to have reached nearly 2 million players on PS5.
CharlieIntel also previously claimed that the combined online player count for the PlayStation versions of Black Ops and Black Ops 2 exceeded that of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 across all platforms, although Activision has not verified that information.
The PlayStation releases are direct ports rather than full remasters, bringing the original campaigns, multiplayer and Zombies modes to PS4 and PS5. The games support cross-generation matchmaking between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 but do not include visual enhancements such as 4K resolution, field-of-view sliders or additional anti-aliasing.
As the reported sales figures have not been confirmed by Activision, they should be treated as a rumour until the publisher provides official data.
