Blizzard layoffs could be announced imminently, according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, while separate reporting suggests more negative news involving Xbox could emerge this week.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the 8-4 Play podcast, Schreier directly addressed the possibility of upcoming cuts at Blizzard. During a discussion about BlizzCon, he said, “The Blizzard layoffs are coming and imminent.”
Schreier’s comments have led to speculation that Blizzard employees could be affected by job cuts in the near future. However, neither Microsoft nor Blizzard has publicly announced a new round of layoffs at the time of writing.

Video Game Chronicle journalist Andy Robinson also warned of further developments involving Microsoft’s gaming division. Robinson wrote that “Sadly the noise is that more bad Xbox news is coming shortly.”
Blizzard’s situation comes shortly after BlizzCon 2026, where the company announced several major projects and updates. These included Diablo V, which is targeting a 2029 release, and a new StarCraft project planned for 2030 that is being developed as an open-world shooter.
