A fresh rumor surrounding Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 suggests the upcoming entry may still be in testing on PlayStation 4, despite earlier claims that the title would skip last-generation hardware. The information comes from leaker HeyImAlaix, who is known for sharing Call of Duty-related details, particularly involving skins and datamined content.
According to the leaker, the next installment, widely believed to be Modern Warfare 4, is currently undergoing testing on PS4. This detail stands in contrast to previous reports from insider TheGhostOfHope, who had stated that the game would not release on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. That earlier claim also suggested a number of technical and design changes, including an overhaul of the Infinity Ward engine to address issues such as visual clutter seen in recent entries.
Separate information regarding the game’s potential release window had also surfaced earlier. Call of Duty insider charlieINTEL responded to a question on Twitter/X, claiming that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 is expected to launch in October 2026. This aligns with prior speculation pointing toward a 2026 release for the title.
Additional rumored details indicate that Infinity Ward may be working on refining gameplay systems, with mentions of omnimovement and wall-running mechanics returning. It is also claimed that classic maps from 2011’s Modern Warfare 3 could be remastered for inclusion, alongside new original maps.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 has not been officially announced at this stage. Based on current speculation, a formal reveal could take place in the coming months.
