Bandai Namco has announced that Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters will launch on August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Alongside the release date announcement, the publisher also shared a new story trailer highlighting the game’s narrative progression and upgraded soccer gameplay systems.

The upcoming title follows Tsubasa Ozora and the Japanese national team as they battle through regional qualifiers on the road to the World Youth Championship. Players will face opponents from countries including Thailand, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and China before advancing to international matches against teams such as Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, Cameroon, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

According to Bandai Namco, the game places a strong emphasis on dramatic rivalries and high-stakes competition, with matches designed around both technical skill and persistence. The story mode traces Japan’s journey through increasingly difficult opponents as the team fights for success on the global stage.

Gameplay has also been expanded for this sequel, with the return of the series’ Super Action Soccer mechanics. Players can chain together flashy moves and signature techniques while passing, dribbling, tackling, and shooting. Goalkeeping has received additional attention through a new system that creates direct tactical clashes between shooters and keepers during powerful special shots.

The presentation remains closely tied to the original anime and manga series, including the return of composer Tadayoshi Makino, who has created more than 80 new background tracks for the game.

Digital pre-orders are now live for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC, while physical pre-orders are available across all console platforms. Bandai Namco has also confirmed that multiple editions and pre-order bonuses will be offered ahead of launch.
