Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive have released Cities: Skylines II Patch 1.5.9f1, bringing a broad range of gameplay improvements, bug fixes, and visual enhancements. The update focuses heavily on vehicle pathfinding behavior, shadow rendering quality, and user interface refinements following community feedback across the PDX Forums.
The patch also resolves several gameplay issues involving industries, transportation systems, and resource management while improving mod loading and localization support. In particular, Simplified Chinese localization has received significant updates after extensive player feedback.

Gameplay
- Vehicles now perform fewer unnecessary U-turns
- Vehicles now select turn lanes earlier when approaching highway exits and intersections
- Fixed bug where citizens and companies incorrectly used electricity fees instead of water fees when calculating electricity costs
- Fixed crash caused by interacting with a DLC transportation line in a vanilla game session
- Fixed Coal Power Plant issue preventing vehicles from purchasing coal
- Delivery trucks now properly leave specialized industry buildings, including farms, to export and sell stored goods
- Natural resources now deplete at the intended slower rate on easy mode
UI Improvements
- Education overlay now displays the correct number of eligible Elementary School students
- Fixed disappearing UI caused by certain zoned buildings constructed on road corners
- Hotels no longer display incorrect customer counts
- Hotel customer counts now reset at midnight
- Added filtering support for Region Packs and asset mods in the build menu
- Benchmark screen now correctly displays screen resolution instead of game version

- Added zone cell grid and zone cell border color and transparency sliders
- Tool parameter values such as road elevation now carry over between related tools

- Fixed controller scrolling issues in the Glossary with high text scale values

Shadow Rendering Improvements
- Fixed shadow rendering distance jumping toward the horizon
- Fixed shadows disappearing and reappearing while moving the camera vertically
- Fixed shadow cutoff when zoomed close to the ground
- Fixed uneven shadow cascade distribution affecting nearby shadow quality
- Slightly improved tree shadow flickering during simulation and sun movement
Miscellaneous Fixes
- Fixed Volumetrics Quality Settings not functioning correctly
- Fixed Region Pack serialization issue tied to fire hazard settings
- Fixed startup error occurring when Discord was not running
- Fixed localization issues across several languages
- Fixed playset deactivation error causing unusually long deactivation times
- Removed unnecessary CSS warning messages from the game log
Mods
- Modding.log now lists active playsets and enabled mods
- Improved mod loading during game startup
- If mods fail to load within two seconds, the game now proceeds to the main menu while continuing downloads in the background

Known Issues
- Microsoft Store version is missing the taskbar icon
- Starting a new game with all map tiles unlocked and tutorials enabled may only unlock starting tiles for some players
- Benchmark screen may incorrectly display refresh rate as 60 Hz regardless of actual monitor refresh rate
