CD Projekt Red has officially announced a brand-new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled Songs of the Past.

The reveal was shared through the official The Witcher social media account, confirming that the expansion is being co-developed with Fool’s Theory and is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

“This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more,” the studio said in its announcement. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that additional information on the project will be revealed later this summer.

According to the studio, the expansion announcement was originally planned for an upcoming REDstreams broadcast, though the reveal appears to have happened earlier than intended. “We originally planned to make this big reveal during our REDstreams tomorrow, but let’s say we found something we didn’t yet expect on RED Launcher,” the company stated.

Alongside the expansion reveal, CD Projekt Red also announced major upcoming changes to the PC system requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The studio said the updated specifications are necessary to support the game’s future content updates and maintain compatibility with evolving hardware standards.

Beginning with the next update, the minimum PC requirements will include an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400 processor, alongside either an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB graphics card. Players will also need 12 GB RAM, 70 GB of SSD storage, and Windows 11.

The developer confirmed that support for Windows 10 and traditional HDD storage will be dropped going forward. CD Projekt Red cited Microsoft ending Windows 10 support in October 2025, as well as the need for DirectX 12-exclusive technical improvements and faster SSD-based asset streaming.

Originally released in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains one of CD Projekt Red’s most successful titles. The open-world RPG follows Geralt of Rivia as he searches for his adopted daughter Ciri while navigating a war-torn fantasy world inspired by Slavic mythology.
