Square Enix has announced that the Dragon Quest HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy has surpassed 4 million units sold worldwide.
The milestone was shared through the official Dragon Quest PR account, which confirmed that combined global shipments and digital download sales for Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake have now crossed the 4 million mark.
In its message to fans, the company said, “To everyone who has joined us on this journey to witness the legend of Erdrick: thank you so much for your support.”
The Erdrick Trilogy represents the first three mainline entries in the Dragon Quest franchise and centers around the legacy of the legendary hero Erdrick. Dragon Quest III acts as a prequel to the original two games, exploring the origins of the iconic title and its connection to the world of Alefgard.
Originally created by Yuji Horii in 1986, the Dragon Quest series became one of the defining pillars of the Japanese RPG genre. The franchise is widely recognized for its traditional turn-based gameplay, fantasy storytelling, Akira Toriyama’s character designs, and Koichi Sugiyama’s orchestral music.
Square Enix has continued revisiting classic entries in recent years through its HD-2D remake initiative, which combines retro-inspired sprite work with modern visual effects and lighting technology.
