Clockwork Revolution Developer inXile Entertainment’s Next Project May Be A Fallout Game

The next project from Clockwork Revolution developer inXile Entertainment may be a Fallout game, according to a new report.

During a recent podcast with Deyton Dykes, Windows Central’s Jez Corden discussed Xbox’s evolving strategy for its first-party lineup following the company’s recent restructuring. During the conversation, he mentioned that studios at Xbox are increasingly being asked to think beyond their current projects and establish long-term roadmaps. According to him, this already appears to be happening at inXile Entertainment, as the studio plans for a possible Fallout game.

“So, like inXile, we know inXile’s working on Clockwork Revolution, but they’re already incubating the next project,” said Corden. “And I’ve heard some interesting rumors that that could be potentially Fallout adjacent as well.” While he clarified that the plan is in its infancy and should be taken with a grain of salt, he noted that it falls in line with the strategic shift taking place across Xbox Game Studios.

Corden explained that multiple Xbox developers are now outlining projects beyond the games they’re currently working on, adding that there is pressure among first-party studios to demonstrate long-term planning following the company’s recent layoffs. “One thing that I’ve heard about Xbox in general right now… every Xbox studio feels like, okay, we’ve got to show what our roadmap is for projects beyond the ones we’ve actually announced.”

According to Corden, this initiative is driven by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s desire to capitalize on its biggest gaming franchises rather than relying on new IPs. “It does seem like a lot of studios are trying to lean into the strategy that Asha has laid out, which is ‘we want to service our big opportunities, which is Fallout, Call of Duty, Halo, Elder Scrolls, so on so forth’.”

Corden also spoke about the future of Obsidian Entertainment, saying that he had heard the studio’s unannounced project, codenamed Michigan, had been replaced with “a definite Fallout game in the traditional sense.”
