Crimson Desert Sold 2.11 Million Units in Q2 2026, DLC Reveal Planned for Q3

by Salal Awan

Pearl Abyss has revealed that Crimson Desert sold approximately 2.11 million copies during the second quarter of 2026, while the company is preparing its first DLC and a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the open-world action game.

Of the 2.11 million units sold during Q2 2026, around 1.72 million were digital purchases, accounting for 82% of sales. Physical copies represented approximately 390,000 units, or 18% of total sales.

Pearl Abyss reported that the average selling price fell from approximately KRW 74,000 in the first quarter to KRW 63,000 in Q2. The company attributed the decline to factors including regional pricing strategies, distribution channels and the split between digital and physical sales.

The company also said physical revenue was affected by the timing of distributor settlements, with 20% of the settlement amount deferred for refund guarantee purposes.

Crimson Desert DLC Details Coming In Q3

Pearl Abyss is currently developing the first Crimson Desert DLC and is targeting a release before the end of 2026. The company plans to reveal details about its structure, pricing and exact release timing during the third quarter.

The developer said the DLC is intended to provide a new gameplay experience and extend the game’s product lifecycle. However, plans for the total number of DLC releases and their eventual release schedule have not yet been finalised.

Pearl Abyss also plans to use discounts and other promotional activities as part of its strategy for expanding the game’s user base and supporting long-term revenue. Specific discount rates and timings have not been announced.

Crimson Desert Switch 2 Version Targets First Half Of 2027

The Crimson Desert Switch 2 version has reached a playable baseline, according to Pearl Abyss. The company is now conducting technical evaluations focused on performance optimisation and ensuring the game meets its quality standards.

Pearl Abyss said the Switch 2 version is not intended to be a simple port. The company wants to preserve the game’s graphics, action combat and seamless open-world experience on Nintendo’s hardware.

The developer is currently targeting a release during the first half of 2027, although it stressed that a definitive launch schedule has not yet been confirmed.

Multiplayer And Mobile Plans Remain Unconfirmed

Pearl Abyss is also researching potential multiplayer expansion for Crimson Desert. The company said multiplayer would require substantial technical work involving server architecture, game balance, cross-platform stability and live-service considerations.

There are currently no immediate plans for a mobile version. Pearl Abyss is researching whether its proprietary BlackSpace Engine can scale to mobile platforms, but its current priorities remain the game’s DLC and its next-generation projects.

Pearl Abyss also described Crimson Desert as a core flagship IP with long-term expansion potential. Future possibilities include additional content, platform expansions and sequels, although the company’s immediate focus remains on the main game and its DLC.

At Gamescom this year, Pearl Abyss plans to present its development experience and technical achievements with the BlackSpace Engine. The company is also preparing on-site hands-on Crimson Desert demos with a partner, with specific details and schedules to be announced later.
