Stellar Blade Revenue Drops to KRW 8.83 Billion as SHIFT UP Works on Switch 2 and Sequel

by Salal Awan

SHIFT UP has outlined the next stage of its Stellar Blade strategy after the game’s revenue fell to KRW 8.831 billion in the second quarter of 2026. The company says the original game remains a steady seller, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for the second half of 2026 and the newly announced Stellar Blade: Blood Rain is progressing in development.

The Q2 figure represents a 31.6% decline from the previous quarter and an 86.6% drop year over year. However, the year over year comparison is heavily affected by the PC version, which launched during Q2 2025 and generated a major boost to revenue during that period.

SHIFT UP’s overall operating revenue reached KRW 55.7 billion in Q2 2026, up 17.8% quarter over quarter but down 50.4% year over year. Operating profit stood at KRW 28.1 billion, while net profit reached KRW 41.7 billion.

Stellar Blade Blood Rain Builds Momentum

SHIFT UP revealed Stellar Blade: Blood Rain at Summer Game Fest 2026, showing a 3 minute 30 second in-game trailer. The company said the trailer had reached 1.61 million views on IGN’s official YouTube channel by the end of July, while the sequel also received positive reactions from gaming communities and media.

The sequel is being developed to expand the combat system of the original while putting greater emphasis on its world and storytelling. SHIFT UP has not announced a release date or release window, saying additional information will be provided as development progresses.

The company is also changing its approach to publishing with Blood Rain. SHIFT UP plans to self-publish the sequel, allowing it to take greater control over the marketing and commercial strategy for the Stellar Blade IP. The company hopes this approach, combined with the established audience of the original game, can help the sequel surpass its predecessor’s results.

Stellar Blade Switch 2 Version Planned For 2026

SHIFT UP is also preparing a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade, which is currently scheduled for the second half of 2026. The company expects the platform expansion to help maintain the game’s sales momentum.

The Switch 2 release is part of a broader effort to extend Stellar Blade’s commercial life. SHIFT UP believes the additional platform can introduce the game to a new audience while the sequel builds anticipation for the future of the franchise.

SHIFT UP Wants Stellar Blade To Become A Long-Term IP

SHIFT UP now describes Stellar Blade as a steady-selling IP in the PC and console market rather than a title dependent solely on its initial launch. Seasonal promotions and the Blood Rain reveal have continued bringing new users to the original game.

The company’s current strategy effectively gives Stellar Blade three opportunities for continued growth. The original game will continue generating sales, the Switch 2 version will provide another platform expansion in the second half of 2026, and Blood Rain is being developed as the next major entry in the franchise.

For now, SHIFT UP has not provided a release date for Blood Rain. The company is instead focused on giving the sequel enough development time to reach its desired level of polish, while using the original Stellar Blade and its upcoming Switch 2 release to maintain interest in the franchise.
