At that time, the official statement was that there won’t be any way to recover the corrupted save data and the publisher recommended that the player shouldn’t use any exploit to gain multiple items.
It appears that ahead of the new year, CD Projekt Red has pushed out a quick hotfix just in time to fix this issue on PC. The patch notes for this hotfix mention just three bug fixes as detailed below.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.06 Patch Notes
Quests
- Dum Dum will no longer go missing from Totentanz entrance during Second Conflict.
Console-specific
- Improved memory management and stability, resulting in fewer crashes.
PC-specific
- Removed the 8 MB save file size limit. Note: this won’t fix save files corrupted before the update.
So the fixes involved here might seem minor but at least on PC, they do carry a big impact. People shouldn’t have to worry about their save data getting corrupted after this new update.
