CD PROJEKT RED and Studio TRIGGER have officially announced Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, with the new anime series set to premiere on Netflix in Fall 2026.
Ahead of its release, a teaser trailer will debut on June 29, offering the first look at the standalone story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Alongside the announcement, the companies also unveiled the series’ official cover art.
The new season introduces an entirely new cast of characters and explores another side of Night City.
“Look alive, choom — Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is coming your way this Fall!” the announcement reads. “Gear up for a return to the world of Cyberpunk, where only the ruthless survive and one wrong move can get you flatlined. This standalone story throws a fresh cast of characters into the darkest corners of Night City and brings a raw, gritty take on the world of the future. Lawless and unforgiving, this is Night City at its most brutal.”
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is directed by Kai Ikarashi, whose previous credits include Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and SSSS.Gridman. Kanno Ichigo serves as lead designer, while Hugo Award-winning writer Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner, story writer and producer.
The teaser trailer features an original score by Tsuneo Imahori and includes the track “You Can’t Run From Me,” written by Maria Kelly and Drew Polovick, performed by Rico Nasty, produced by Drew Polovick, and mixed and mastered by Elliot Polokoff.
The newly released key art also introduces a new character, Talia Yang, with artwork credited to Ichigo Kanno, ink and paint check by Yukiko Kakita, and compositing by Yuichiroh Tozawa.
The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuted as a self-contained story centred on David Martinez, whose journey concluded at the end of the series. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 instead tells a completely new standalone story, expanding the universe with a different cast while returning to the brutal streets of Night City.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will stream exclusively on Netflix in Fall 2026.
