Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s free Depths of the Damned update is now available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, adding a new mission, six weapons, a new boss encounter and several other gameplay improvements.
The update introduces Spillway, a new mission set within the Water Cartel’s territory deep beneath Tertium. Players must navigate a network of tunnels, waterways and forgotten passages while choosing between different routes, with the mission ultimately leading Strike Teams towards a dangerous new encounter.
At the end of the journey awaits the Prophet of Decay, a powerful corrupted Psyker hidden within the deepest areas of the Hive. Defeating the new boss requires players to combine teamwork, strategy and firepower rather than relying solely on brute force.
Depths of the Damned also expands Darktide’s arsenal with three new weapon families and three new weapon marks. The new additions include the Ogryn Cruncher, Huntsman’s Shotgun and Ogryn Thugshot, alongside the Crusher Krourk MK VII, Double-Barrelled Shotgun Krourk Mk IV, Gromm Mk I Battle Maul and Mk V Slab Shield.
The update also includes balance changes for classes and weapons, with adjustments to the class talent trees intended to give players greater freedom when spending talent points. Minor stat boosts have been removed from the talent trees in favour of more impactful abilities.
Alongside the new gameplay content, Depths of the Damned introduces the Allies and Adversaries live event. The monthly event sees Interrogator Rannick assisting Grendyl’s allies across three missions before players descend into the depths of the Torrent to help the Ragged King deal with a serious problem.
New premium Commodore Vestures have also been added, featuring the Cadian 512th and Krieg 158th regiments. The cosmetics are available through the premium store alongside the launch of the update.
