Xbox has begun testing Mythic Achievements with Xbox Insiders, introducing a new way for players to recognise games where they have completed all of the original achievements.
Players earn Mythic status by completing every original achievement available for a game. Achievements added later through DLC or updates are not required, and once a game reaches Mythic status, the achievement remains permanently unlocked.
The feature also applies to eligible games players have already completed, including Xbox 360 titles. This means some games in players’ existing achievement histories may already have Mythic status when they access their profiles.
Xbox is also adding a new Gaming tab to player profiles, where users can view their achievements, track their next Gamerscore milestone badge and revisit completed games. Mythic Achievements are displayed with a special frame, making them easier to identify within achievement histories. Players can also view their friends’ Gaming tabs and see which games they have completed to Mythic status.
A new progress bar has been added to individual game achievement lists to show how close players are to earning Mythic status. Players can focus on the original achievements they still need, while achievements introduced later are marked as “add-on” achievements and do not count towards the requirement.
The Mythic progress information will also appear in other areas of Xbox, including the Guide and Achievement details, allowing players to track their remaining requirements as they work towards completing a game.
Mythic Achievements are currently available as an early test for Xbox Insiders, with Xbox describing the feature as one of its most requested additions.
