Bandai Namco has released a new gameplay trailer for Echoes of Aincrad, offering a closer look at the combat systems and progression mechanics that will define the upcoming RPG. The game is scheduled to launch on July 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with pre-orders now open.
The latest footage focuses on the core gameplay loop set within the floating castle of Aincrad, where players will engage in real-time battles while advancing through increasingly dangerous floors. Character progression plays a central role, with each level granting growth points that can be allocated to attributes such as stamina, strength, and dexterity, allowing players to tailor their builds to different playstyles.
Combat is supported by a range of equipment and customization options, including various weapons, armor sets, and Special Skills. Enhancing gear through the in-game smithy is presented as a key component of progression, particularly as players face stronger enemies deeper into the castle.
A major emphasis is placed on partner-based combat. Players will fight alongside an AI-controlled companion that can respond to commands during battle. Encounters are built around the Switch system, which allows players to alternate roles with their partner, chain attacks, or coordinate damage output depending on the situation. Each partner also brings a unique Special Skill, adding a strategic layer to combat encounters.
According to Bandai Namco, success in Echoes of Aincrad will rely not only on equipment upgrades, but also on mastering the interplay between player actions and partner mechanics. The combination of real-time combat and coordinated tactics appears to be central to the overall experience as players progress through the game’s increasingly challenging environments.
