For the uninitiated, The Outer Worlds is an action role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Private Division. It initially launched for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in October 2019, followed by a Nintendo Switch version in June 2020. On March 7, 2023, a remastered edition of the game titled The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition was released for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Developed by Virtuos, the remaster features enhanced visuals and an increased level cap. This edition includes the base game along with all downloadable content.
Combat in The Outer Worlds offers various weapon types, such as melee and firearms, with different ammo types and customization options. Players can also utilize stealth or social skills to avoid combat. Progressing through the game earns experience points for leveling up and unlocking skills, including technical skills like Science, Medical, and Engineering. Players can also gain perks and tactical advantages, including a “Tactical Time Dilation” mode that slows down time during battles.
