Fate/EXTRA Record will launch on January 28, 2027, Aniplex has announced. The RPG remake will be released on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with physical pre-orders now open at participating retailers and the game available to wishlist on Steam.

Aniplex also revealed a new trailer showing the latest gameplay from Fate/EXTRA Record. A dedicated livestream will follow on September 4, with the programme set to provide a closer look at the game and featuring voice actors Atsushi Abe and Yui Ishikawa.

Originally released in 2010 as the first RPG in the Fate series, Fate/EXTRA Record has been rebuilt for modern platforms with additional story content, redesigned character models and a revised combat system based around strategic deck-building.

The game takes place in SE.RA.PH, a virtual world created on the Moon after a supercomputer known as the Moon Cell is discovered. The Moon Cell possesses the Holy Grail, a device capable of granting wishes, leading 128 Masters to enter a deadly competition for control of it.

Players take the role of a second-year student at Tsukumihara Academy who has lost their memory. Accompanied by a single Servant, the protagonist must survive a 7-round tournament while uncovering the identity and weaknesses of opposing Servants.

Combat revolves around deck-building command card battles, with players able to use different weapons and Mystic Codes to create combinations and exploit enemy weaknesses. Identifying an opponent’s true identity can also reveal information that helps turn battles in the player’s favour.

Fate/EXTRA Record will be available in 4 editions. The Standard Edition will cost $59.99 on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version will cost $69.99. The Steam version will be priced at $59.99 or €59.99.

A physical Limited Edition will cost $89.99, or $99.99 on Nintendo Switch 2. It includes the game alongside a 3-disc soundtrack containing 75 tracks, housed in a SteelBook case, as well as the Fate/EXTRA Record Material art and concept book.

The soundtrack combines music from the remake with arranged tracks from the original Fate/EXTRA. The accompanying art book contains character artwork, dungeon illustrations and development notes, although Aniplex recommends waiting until after completing the game because it contains significant spoilers.

The Digital Deluxe Edition will cost $79.99 on consoles and $79.99 or €79.99 on Steam. It includes the base game, an arranged BGM pack featuring music from the original Fate/EXTRA, 3 outfit sets and a digital soundtrack and art book.

The outfit bundle includes Beach Style, Night Style and Festival Style costumes for Servants and the player. The arranged music can be played through the phonograph in the game’s My Room area.

Fate/EXTRA Record will launch worldwide on January 28, 2027, for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Physical editions will be available for the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms, while the game will feature Japanese voice audio and subtitles in Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean.
