Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be a multi-part series and while the developers have a general idea of the full story, they can’t confirm the number of sequels.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an ambitious re-imagining of the original game that has been greatly expanded. The developers are already hard at work on the next part in the Remake but they are not sure how many sequels will be released to complete the whole story.
This is according to a new interview published in the Ultimania for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which is due out on April 28 in Japan. Some of the quotes were translated by Twitter user aitaikimochi regarding a potential sequel and the number of parts.
Final Fantasy series producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed that while they have a general idea of the story and the fans are expecting this Remake to be a trilogy of games, they are taking all steps slowly one at a time and can’t confirm the number of sequels.
“We have a general idea of how the story will play out, but we haven’t decided exactly [how many parts], nor can we confirm anything. There’s speculation that it will be 3 parts, but we’re just doing things one step at a time, ” said Kitase.
Tetsuya Nomura, who is the game director of this Remake wants to get the next part out as soon as possible.
“Depends on how many parts the overall story will be, ” said Nomura. “If we divide the story into large parts, it’ll take longer to make. If we divide it into more detailed smaller sections, then developing it will be faster. I hope to release the next one ASAP.”
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out now as a timed exclusive for the PS4.
