Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Update 1.040 Drops Today, Requires 6 GB Download

Square Enix has released a brand new update for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth today which patches the game to version 1.040.

The last time they patched the game, it was related to a bug with the Platinum trophy being unobtainable. For this update, it appears to be related to a rare bug that made the players unable to progress any further. There are a few other fixes mentioned in the patch notes as well.

The download size of this update is reported to be around 6 GB so you will need to keep this storage space requirement in mind before you can grab the patch.

The update resolves a rare bug that could prevent game progression under certain conditions, ensuring players can continue their adventures without interruptions. It also fixes a bug related to the acquisition of photo frames, allowing players to obtain them when the necessary conditions are met. Several battle-related bugs have been addressed, along with display issues in Mission Mode and the mini-game “Gambit Gears.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, developed and published by Square Enix. Building on the reimagined world and characters of the original 1997 classic, Rebirth continues the epic journey of Cloud Strife and his companions. It was released exclusively for the PS5. Unfortunately, the game sales have been rather lackluster, prompting a multiplatform strategy for Square Enix.
