Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on PS5 on April 8, 2027, Square Enix has announced during the latest PlayStation State of Play. The publisher also revealed new gameplay details, pre-order bonuses and two Premium Editions for the final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series.
Revelation will conclude the story that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The action RPG will take players across a large open world, with the Highwind airship returning as a major means of exploring the planet.
Chocobo companion Piko will also return, serving as both a mount and a combat partner. Piko will become stronger alongside the party and gain additional abilities that can be used for exploration and during battles.
Combat is being expanded with the new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system, known as FITS. The system allows players to customise their characters with specialised uniforms that provide different move sets and combat roles.
There are 4 FITS types: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner. Each one changes a party member’s abilities and combat function, while also altering their appearance. The newly revealed gameplay footage shows Cid using the Knight FITS and Vincent equipped with the Summoner FITS.
Revelation will also introduce a new character-switching system, allowing players to immediately switch between party members while exploring the world. A grappling gun will provide another way to navigate the environments, including quickly reaching rooftops and moving through cities.
Certain quests can also be assigned to different party members. The selected character can affect how specific story events and gameplay scenarios play out, giving players different experiences depending on their choices.
Queen’s Blood will make a return as well, with the card game receiving a new storyline focused on Red XIII. The campaign will feature new opponents and challenges, including players capable of significantly changing the flow of matches and testing those already familiar with the game’s mechanics.
Pre-orders are now available through the PlayStation Store. All editions include the Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle Summon Materia as a pre-order bonus.
Square Enix has also announced the Premium Edition, which includes the base game, Story Expansion Pass and 24-hour early access. It also comes with the Reclaimant Choker accessory and consumable items intended to help players during the early stages of the game.
The Story Expansion Pass will provide access to 2 story-focused DLC expansions, although further details about the additional content have not yet been announced.
The Premium Plus Edition includes everything in the Premium Edition, along with a digital art book, digital mini soundtrack, Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, Nymphwing Bracelet armour and Risk Taker’s Choker accessory.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on PS5 on April 8, 2027. The game is also planned for release on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch 2.
