The Until Dawn 2 release date has been set for January 28, 2027, with Firesprite confirming that the horror adventure will launch exclusively on PS5. Pre-orders will begin on September 10, alongside the announcement of a Digital Deluxe Edition featuring additional costumes and other bonus content.
Until Dawn 2 follows Dead True, a group of ghost-hunting YouTubers who travel to the remote Akishima Island with their chicken companion. Players will determine whether the entire team makes it off the island alive as they encounter supernatural horrors and uncover secrets buried beneath the island.
Firesprite has worked with AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch, on the game’s story. The collaboration is intended to deliver a character-driven narrative featuring branching relationships, difficult decisions and consequences that can affect how events unfold.
A new pre-order trailer provides a closer look at the story. Dead True initially travels to Blackwood Sanitorium to investigate the events of a tragedy that occurred 12 years earlier. During the investigation, Izzy, played by Sarah Catherine Hook, discovers something unexpected that changes the group’s plans.
The team later encounters Yoona, played by Gia Kim, at HorrorCon in Sydney. A survivor of a supernatural attack, Yoona has a dark scar across her body and warns the group about the danger surrounding a remote South Pacific island that has remained abandoned since a luxury resort mysteriously closed during the 1970s.
The choices made throughout the game will determine what happens to the characters. One example shown in the trailer involves Owen, played by Dacre Montgomery, who must decide whether to follow a signal in search of his missing friend Nate or cross a damaged bridge towards a strangely active bar.
Taking the alternative route could potentially uncover useful clues, but leaving Nate behind could also put him in greater danger. Other characters face similarly difficult decisions, including Mina, played by Camila Senna, who is pressured by the network to perform a ritual sacrifice live on camera.
Players can either sacrifice Dead True’s chicken companion or refuse and put Mina herself at risk as part of the ritual.
Dr. Hill, played by Peter Stormare, will also return in Until Dawn 2. Players who pre-order either the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition will receive exclusive Dr. Hill-themed content, including a classic Until Dawn outfit, an Akishima Island holiday outfit and collectible Dr. Hill bobbleheads that can be found during the game.
The Digital Deluxe Edition will additionally include the Y2K Neon Vibes Pack, which gives all 8 members of Dead True new neon-inspired costumes. It will also feature Diorama of Death, allowing players to revisit the game’s various deaths through scenes depicting different perspectives on each fatal outcome.
Until Dawn 2 launches on PS5 on January 28, 2027, with pre-orders opening September 10.
