Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.56 Adds Beastmaster and New Crucible

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.56 adds the new limited Beastmaster job and its exclusive solo duty, the Crucible of the Unbroken. The update also introduces new main scenario and job quests, New Game Plus content, furnishings, a hairstyle, mounts, minions, fashion accessories, facewear, achievements, and other additions.

The patch also removes weekly restrictions from AAC Heavyweight Tier Savage and enables a 12 percent Echo effect, while adding Windurst: The Third Walk to the Alliance Raid Roulette and increasing the weekly Allagan tomestone of mnemonics limit from 450 to 900. Several issues have also been addressed, including multiple Nintendo Switch 2 specific problems and various Beastmaster and Crucible of the Unbroken issues.

New Features and Playable Content

  • New main scenario quests have been added.
    • A Winter’s Dream is available to Disciple of War or Magic players at level 100 in the Rising Stones.
    • The quest requires completion of the main scenario quest Trail to the Heavens.
    • Additional main scenario quests follow A Winter’s Dream.
  • New Beastmaster job quests have been added.
    • Strangers in the Wood begins in New Gridania and requires Disciple of War or Magic level 50.
    • The quest requires completion of the main scenario quest The Ultimate Weapon.
    • Additional Beastmaster quests become available as the job reaches levels 1, 8, 18, 30, 40, and 50.
    • Some Beastmaster quests require players to clear specific boards in the Crucible of the Unbroken.

Beastmaster

  • The Beastmaster limited job has been added.
    • Beastmaster is a melee DPS job that begins at level 1 and has a maximum level of 50.
    • Beastmaster shares gear with monk and samurai.
    • The job has no corresponding class.
    • Beastmasters forge pacts with creatures and summon them as familiars.
    • Familiars can be used to unleash special combos and attacks.
  • Beastmaster is a limited job with several restrictions.
    • Beastmasters cannot execute role actions.
    • Beastmasters receive greater experience from FATEs.
    • Unlike blue mage, Beastmasters do not receive additional experience bonuses from battling enemies in the open world.
    • Beastmasters can participate in duties with other players through preformed or unrestricted parties.
    • Beastmasters cannot access Duty Roulettes.
    • Beastmasters cannot access The Forbidden Land, Eureka, The Bozjan Southern Front, The Occult Crescent, Variant Dungeons, Criterion Dungeons, Ultimate Raids, or Stone, Sky, Sea.
    • Beastmasters cannot participate in Squadron Missions.
    • Beastmasters cannot enter Deep Dungeons.
    • Beastmasters cannot participate in PvP, including duels.
    • Beastmasters cannot enter the Hall of the Novice.
    • Limited jobs can only accept job quests and quests available to all jobs and classes.
    • Retainers cannot be assigned the Beastmaster job.
  • Beastmasters can forge pacts with familiars using the Gauge and Capture actions.
    • Gauge determines whether a pact can be forged with a targeted beast and indicates the difficulty.
    • Capture applies a status effect to the targeted beast.
    • Players must defeat the beast while the status effect is active to forge the pact.
    • Weakening a target before using Capture increases the chance of success.
    • Pact attempts can still fail.
    • New familiars are added to the Master’s Bestiary after a pact is forged.
    • The Master’s Bestiary provides information about familiar abilities and natural habitats.
  • Kornago Gourds allow players to forge pacts without fighting the desired beast.
    • Players can exchange remnants of resilience for Kornago gourds.
    • The variety of available gourds increases through Beastmaster job quest completion.
  • Familiars can be assigned to battlehorns through the Master’s Bestiary.
    • Battlehorn actions summon the assigned familiar.
    • Only one familiar can be summoned at a time.
    • Familiar size can be adjusted through the Edit Appearance subcommand.
    • Familiar size changes are only reflected on the player’s own screen.
    • Familiar size can also be adjusted through text commands.
  • Beastmaster combat uses a job specific TP system.
    • Beastmasters and familiars gain TP through certain actions.
    • Instinctual skills can be executed after accumulating at least 100 TP.
    • Sequential instinctual skills complete combos that deal additional damage.
    • TP is displayed through a job specific HUD element.
    • Tempered Release orders a familiar to perform a unique attack.
    • Borrow draws power from a familiar to execute another Beastmaster action.

Crucible of the Unbroken

  • The Crucible of the Unbroken has been added as a Beastmaster exclusive duty.
    • The Crucible is a solo experience designed to test Beastmaster abilities.
    • Players progress across boards containing different events.
    • Each board is completed by defeating its final boss.
  • Players select their team composition before entering a board.
    • The maximum team allowance varies between boards.
    • Familiars can be selected through the Master’s Bestiary.
    • The Recommended Team option can automatically create a team.
    • Board Layout displays information about potential enemies and their weaknesses.
  • Players and familiars have individual HP inside Crucible battlegrounds.
    • HP does not naturally regenerate.
    • Special items or spaces must be used to recover HP.
    • A familiar that reaches zero HP can no longer participate in combat.
    • A player reaching zero HP fails the duty.
    • Snarl orders the familiar to draw enmity on the player’s behalf through Cover.
    • Challenge draws enmity to the player and removes Cover from the familiar.
    • Players must manage familiar HP while distributing incoming damage.
  • Ephemeral items are exclusive to individual Crucible boards.
    • These items can only be used on the board where they are obtained.
    • Ephemeral items are lost after completing or failing the duty.
  • Crucible items provide different effects during board traversal and combat.
    • One Crucible item is provided at the beginning of every board.
    • Players can carry up to 10 Crucible items.
    • Crucible items can be selected from an independent inventory and assigned to hotbars.
  • Beast gear provides permanent benefits while carried in the inventory.
    • One piece of Beast gear is provided at the beginning of every board.
    • Players can carry up to 10 pieces of Beast gear.
    • Duplicate Beast gear pieces cannot be possessed.
  • Players can feed familiars to enhance their abilities and attributes.
    • The amount of feed each familiar can consume varies.
    • Familiars cannot consume duplicate feed of the same type.
    • Familiars resting on a campsite space lose the effects of feed consumed previously.
  • Crucible scores are calculated using spaces traversed, remaining player HP, and other factors.
    • Additional score bonuses can be earned by completing specific requirements.
    • Bonus requirements can be viewed through the Board Layout menu.
  • Crucible rewards include faded and bright remnants of resilience.
    • Rewards are awarded according to the score achieved.
    • Remnants of resilience can be exchanged with the Kornago merchant in the Central Shroud.
    • Players can exchange these items for Kornago gourds or Beastmaster specific gear enhancements.
  • Familiar growth has been added to the Crucible.
    • Familiars accompanying players receive experience based on their score.
    • Every 100 EXP increases a familiar’s beast rank.
    • Beast rank improves familiar attributes within the Crucible.
    • Familiar beast rank can be increased to a maximum of 25.
    • Strength affects physical damage dealt.
    • Intelligence affects magic damage dealt.
    • Physical Resistance affects physical vulnerability.
    • Magic Resistance affects magic vulnerability.
    • Constitution affects maximum HP.
  • Crucible progress can be suspended.
    • Players can save their data and temporarily leave the Crucible between spaces or on spaces they have already cleared.
    • Resume Progress allows players to continue from their saved position.
    • Starting a new Crucible challenge while suspended data exists erases the suspended data.
  • Players can forfeit the Crucible outside of battle.
    • Forfeiting awards a score based on progress.
    • Rewards are granted proportionate to the score.
  • Crucible Mode: Degrees provides additional challenges after completing all boards and progressing through the Beastmaster job quests.
    • Degrees increase enemy HP and damage.
    • Three difficulty levels are available, ranging from the first degree to the third.
    • Higher difficulty levels provide greater score bonuses.
    • Team composition and ephemeral items become particularly important at higher difficulties.
    • Crucible Mode can be adjusted through the Board Layout menu before challenging a board.
  • Crucible Rankings allow players to compete for the highest scores.
    • Scores must be recorded on a player’s Home World.
    • Rankings are aggregated by physical data center.
    • Players must select the third degree and enable Participate in rankings to record eligible scores.
    • Ranking scores are compiled from the last three attempts of each board.
    • Crucible rankings are available through the Lodestone.
    • The top 300 ranking players from each physical data center receive rewards through the moogle delivery service at the end of a season.
    • Season One begins Thursday, September 24, 2026, and runs until the release of Patch 7.58.
    • Season starting and ending times are subject to change.

Battle System

  • AAC Heavyweight Tier Savage has received several adjustments.
    • Treasure coffers now always appear without reducing rewards based on previous clears.
    • The weekly restriction on rewards from treasure coffers has been removed.
    • The weekly entrance restriction has been removed.
    • Players can proceed directly to any match.
    • The Echo is now active.
    • The Echo increases maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing potency by 12 percent.
    • The Echo does not become stronger if all party members are incapacitated.
    • The Echo has been enhanced compared with usual effects to account for the timing of the Savage release and player gear acquisition.
  • Extended time limits for Forked Tower: Magic in the Occult Crescent: North Horn have been adjusted.
    • Entering Forked Tower: Magic or defeating bosses within it extends the Occult Crescent: North Horn time limit for each player.
    • Previously retained extensions are now subtracted when leaving Forked Tower: Magic.
    • If the subtraction would leave less than five minutes remaining, the duty time limit is set to five minutes.
  • Windurst: The Third Walk has been added to Duty Roulette: Alliance Raids.
  • The weekly Allagan tomestones of mnemonics limit has increased from 450 to 900.
    • The maximum storage limit remains 2,000 tomestones.

PvP

  • Series 11 ends and Series 12 begins.
    • Series 12 runs from Patch 7.56 until the release of Patch 8.0.
    • Players can earn Series EXP and increase their Series level by participating in any PvP duty.
    • Increasing Series level unlocks Series rewards.
    • Series 11 rewards can be claimed until the end of Series 12.
    • Previous Series rewards can be claimed through Series Malmstones in the PvP Profile window.

New Items and Customization

  • New items have been added.
    • Items added in Patch 7.56 will be listed at a later date.
  • New mounts have been added.
  • New minions have been added.
  • New fashion accessories have been added.
  • New facewear has been added.
  • A new hairstyle inspired by an FFXIV Hairstyle Design Contest entry is now available.
  • New furnishings have been added.
  • New orchestrion rolls have been added.
  • New achievements and titles have been added.
  • New portrait accents have been added.
  • New adventurer plate accents have been added.
  • New music, sound effects, and voices have been added.
  • New trophies have been added for PlayStation 5.
  • New achievements have been added for Xbox Series X|S.

Quality of Life and System Updates

  • Multiple field instances will be implemented for the Central Shroud and the area newly added in Patch 7.56 to prevent server congestion.
    • The feature will be removed once server congestion is determined to no longer be an issue.
  • The division of Tuliyollal into multiple instances, introduced to alleviate congestion in Patch 7.51, has been removed.
  • New text commands have been added.
    • The /beastsize command changes the size of selected Beastmaster familiars.
    • Available familiar sizes are large, medium, and small.
    • The command can toggle between sizes when no size is specified.
    • The /bestiary command opens and closes the Master’s Bestiary.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with the In the Shadow of the Tower quest in the Occult Crescent: North Horn where the NPC icon did not reflect completed objectives after reaching the required knowledge level of 40 in the Occult Crescent: South Horn.
  • Fixed incorrect help text under Elemental Weaknesses for Enemies in the Occult Crescent guide.
  • Fixed an issue with the Eradicate Toxic Weeds cosmic exploration mech op directive where the field scanner delivery range did not display under certain conditions.
  • Fixed an issue where Surface Slap and Identical Cast could be used under certain conditions after catching a fish as a collectable.
  • Fixed an issue where the Dark Knight arm Figment of Spring displayed an incorrect item icon.
  • Fixed an issue where certain New Game Plus chapters appeared in the incorrect order on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Fixed an issue where the Active Time Maneuver gauge did not increase through touchscreen functions in certain duties on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Fixed an issue where certain face paint colors were also applied to other body areas, including the neck, horns, hair, and scales, on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Fixed an issue where active hours displayed on adventurer plates were not correctly reflected when set from a different gaming platform on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Fixed an issue where character movement reaction speed through touchscreen functions in the Character or Portrait menus was incorrect on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Fixed an issue where purchasing FFXIV Coins through the launcher did not transfer customers to the appropriate Nintendo eShop screen after selecting a product on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Fixed an issue where the intended error message did not appear when a system’s time and date settings differed significantly from reality on Nintendo Switch 2.

Beastmaster and Crucible Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Beastmaster’s Snarl help text did not include the effect that nullifies player enmity generation.
  • Fixed incorrect enemy graphics on the Crucible of the Unbroken Board Layout.
  • Fixed incorrect attack indicator positions for Earthrender and Void Thunder III when the player character is mid-jump in the Crucible of the Unbroken.
  • Fixed an issue where players could continue moving under certain conditions while affected by the Stone Curse status ailment in the Crucible of the Unbroken.
  • Fixed an issue where being hit by Burst executed by the mogsong sphere did not cause damage under certain conditions in the Crucible of the Unbroken.
  • Fixed an issue where the Beastmaster earrings icon did not visually indicate that the item was unique.
    • The issue only affected the icon appearance, as the item itself is unique.
