Gears of War E-Day Open Beta Peaks at 22,084 Players, Below Several Major Betas

The Gears of War E-Day open beta reached a peak of 22,084 concurrent players on Steam, according to Steam tracking data. The figure places the upcoming multiplayer shooter below several other major open betas held on the platform in recent years.

Battlefield 6 currently holds the highest Steam peak at 521,079 concurrent players, followed by Monster Hunter Wilds at 463,798 and Mecha BREAK at 317,522. The Finals, ARC Raiders and NARAKA: BLADEPOINT also recorded peaks above 180,000 players.

Gears of War E-Day’s reported peak puts it below Hell Let Loose Vietnam, which reached 24,331 players, but above DOOM’s 19,692-player peak. Other open betas below E-Day include Exoprimal at 9,510, Resident Evil Resistance at 8,147 and Concord at 2,388.

Gears of War E-Day Steam Performance

The beta’s Steam performance is higher than the previous Gears titles on the platform. Gears 5 reached a peak of 10,196 concurrent players, while Gears Tactics peaked at 7,351. Gears of War: Reloaded recorded a peak of 4,819.

Gears of War E-Day has also reportedly accumulated 43,506 followers on Steam, with the game sitting at number 502 among top sellers, number 50 in top wishlists and number 61 for wishlist activity.

Gears of War E-Day is scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026. Developed by The Coalition, the prequel is set 14 years before the original Gears of War and follows younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the beginning of the Locust War.

The open beta provides players with an early look at the game’s multiplayer, including the 12-player Horde Siege PvE mode and 4v4 Versus. Players can also earn exclusive cosmetic rewards during the beta, with some rewards carrying over to the full release.
