Marvel Studios has officially announced a new Ghost Rider movie, with Ryan Gosling set to take on the role of the iconic anti-hero. The film will be directed by Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in 2028.
The announcement was made during Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, where Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled the project. Feige joked that he had often been asked when both Ghost Rider and Gosling would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe before inviting the actor onto the stage.
Gosling was greeted with a warm reception from the audience and said Ghost Rider was a character he had wanted to play for a long time. He then introduced Levy, saying there was only one director he believed could bring the character to the big screen.
Levy explained that while working with Gosling on the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, the pair regularly discussed ideas for a Ghost Rider film during breaks on set. Those conversations eventually developed into plans for the project now in production.
The director, who previously helmed Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, told the audience that he and Gosling built the film around their shared vision for the character before closing the presentation by confirming fans would see Ghost Rider return to cinemas in 2028.
