God of War PS4 Runs at 4K and 60 FPS On PS5 But With a Caveat
God of War had a 60 FPS unlocked frame rate mode on PS4 that now runs at locked 60 FPS but apparently, it was possible to run it at 4K.
God of War was one of the games that were confirmed to run at 60 FPS on the PS4, however, unlike Ghost of Tsushima and Days Gone, the latest updated version of the game ran at 1080p resolution. This has turned out that just like The Last Guardian, God of War is another game that benefits from running it unpatched from the disc.

As discovered by VGTech in their analysis which can be seen below, the game runs at 4K resolution if played through a disc and without any of the post-launch updates applied to it.
Honestly speaking, we don’t recommend playing this way because the player will miss out on a lot of the new additions that were added in the post-launch updates. This included fixes for accessibility, a new game plus mode, and more.
God of War PS4 is another case of an unpatched game that runs with a different resolution or frame rate than a patched one. This has been the case with The Last Guardian and Assassin’s Creed Unity. Both of these run at an unlocked frame rate if the game is unpatched or played straight from the disc.
In the case of God of War PS4, the unpatched version has no frame rate cap and runs at checkerboard 4K resolution on the PS4. As a result, it is possible to play the game at 4K and 60 FPS on the PS5 thanks to backward compatibility. We are not sure if the new update will fix any bugs that the developers might have discovered when playing it on the PS5.
