Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the GTA VI pre-load will begin on November 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, ahead of the game’s November 19 release. The company has also revealed that the pre-load will require up to 212 GB of storage, depending on the device.
According to Rockstar’s latest announcement, PlayStation 5 players will be able to begin downloading Grand Theft Auto VI at midnight local time on November 10. This means the pre-load will become available as each region reaches midnight.
Xbox Series X|S players will follow a different schedule, with pre-loading beginning simultaneously worldwide at 12 a.m. GMT on November 10. Players who have pre-ordered the digital version will be able to download the game ahead of launch.
The storage requirement is particularly significant, with Rockstar confirming that the pre-load file can reach 212 GB. However, the company has not provided separate download sizes for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so the exact storage requirement may differ between the two consoles.
Rockstar has also confirmed that code-in-box versions of Grand Theft Auto VI for both consoles should begin arriving at retailers on November 12. These editions will be available ahead of the game’s official release on November 19.
Players looking for instructions on downloading the game before launch can visit the Rockstar Support website, which provides platform-specific pre-load information.
Alongside the pre-load announcement, Rockstar has shared details about additional content arriving around launch. On November 19, the company will make a printable version of the official Grand Theft Auto VI cover art poster and a map of Leonida available as free digital downloads through its website.
A double-sided physical version of the poster will also be released through the Rockstar Store shortly after launch. It will cost $0.99 when purchased separately or be included free with any Rockstar Store purchase.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with digital pre-loading beginning nine days earlier.
