Arc System Works has announced that Guilty Gear Strive has surpassed 4 million users worldwide, celebrating the milestone with a new commemorative illustration by Koichi Kitazono.
The achievement marks another major success for the fighting game, which originally launched in June 2021. Since release, Guilty Gear Strive has become the most successful entry in the long-running franchise’s history by a considerable margin.
Developed under the direction of series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari, Strive introduced a more accessible approach to the series’ traditionally complex gameplay while retaining the depth expected by competitive players. The game also earned widespread praise for its distinctive anime-inspired visuals and rollback netcode, which helped support a strong online community across multiple platforms.
The 4 million user milestone highlights just how dramatically the franchise’s audience has expanded. Previous Guilty Gear titles were generally considered niche fighting games, with individual entries historically selling only a fraction of what Strive has achieved.
When Guilty Gear Strive reached 1 million sales in 2022, Arc System Works confirmed it was the first game in the franchise to hit that figure. Since then, the title has continued to grow through post-launch updates, additional content, and releases on new platforms.
Now, with more than 4 million users worldwide across PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, Guilty Gear Strive stands as the most commercially successful game in the series’ 28-year history.
