MIO Developer Douze Dixièmes Reportedly Shuts Down

by Ali Haider

French game developer Douze Dixièmes has reportedly shut down, according to information shared by French journalist Chloé Woitier and later corroborated by industry commentator Gautoz.

Woitier referenced the closure as part of a broader report on the challenges currently facing the French video game industry, describing a period marked by studio closures and layoffs.

Following the publication of the report, Gautoz stated that the studio’s closure had been confirmed.

“It’s the end of the road for the French studio Douze Dizièmes (MIO)—information we have confirmed,” Gautoz wrote on the Origami Discord server. “Recently dropped by Focus, the co-founders had bought back all the shares, but it appears this was mainly so they could lay themselves off on their own terms rather than those of the publisher.”

Founded in 2017 near Paris, Douze Dixièmes was established by seven friends from a range of professional backgrounds, including animation, architecture, and engineering. The studio became known for its distinctive visual style and its decision to develop proprietary technology for its games.

The team’s first title, Shady Part of Me, launched in 2020 and received attention for its puzzle-platforming mechanics and story-driven approach. More recently, the studio released MIO: Memories in Orbit in January 2026, a 2.5D Metroidvania set aboard a sprawling spaceship.

Douze Dixièmes had previously been acquired by Focus Home Interactive in 2021. Earlier this year, the studio’s founders regained ownership of the company after buying back its shares. However, according to the latest reports, the move was not enough to secure the studio’s future.

Neither Douze Dixièmes nor Focus has publicly announced the closure at the time of writing. However, multiple industry sources now indicate that the developer has ceased operations.
