Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games’ upcoming action-adventure game, Marvel’s Wolverine, autocompletes its Quick Time Events (QTEs) in case you fail their generous completion window.
Twitter/X user ReviewsJao has shared a video clip from Marvel’s Wolverine that demonstrates how the game’s QTEs work. It turns out that there is no fail state associated with any of them. As such, they continue to play out even if you fail their generous completion window.

Marvel’s Wolverine includes a QTE autocomplete setting among its accessibility options, and turning it on autocompletes these sequences without any button prompts showing up, turning them into non-interactive cutscenes. By default, with the QTE autocomplete setting turned off, the button prompts show up during QTEs, but as noted by the Twitter/X user, players don’t actually need to press any of the corresponding buttons in order to complete them, despite the generous completion window of 4 to 6 seconds.
Content creator Skill Up also brought this up in his Marvel’s Wolverine review (at 20:46), criticizing the game for playing itself at times. “It was only toward the back end of the game that I realized that you actually don’t have to press any buttons during Quick Time Events,” he said. “The game will automatically complete them for you, even if you don’t press anything. like this clip right here. And so I ask you, what are we doing here? Like you’ve got a game where people die in horrific circumstances again and again. It’s M17 plus rated in the US. Insomniac have said repeatedly that they want a gritty, mature story that isn’t pulling any punches, a story intended for adults. And yet, we get a game that literally plays itself at times.”
Marvel’s Wolverine is set for release on September 15, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
