Microsoft and Halo Studios debuted a new trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, revealing three brand-new story missions that expand the events leading up to the original Halo: Combat Evolved.

The trailer, titled New Missions Trailer, introduces Operation: Meteorite, a covert mission that takes place before the events of the original game. According to Halo Studios, players will follow Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson as they infiltrate a mysterious Covenant vessel during a secret operation behind enemy lines.

The new content will be included as part of Halo: Campaign Evolved and serves as an additional story chapter designed to further explore the relationship between the two iconic characters before their arrival at Installation 04.

Halo Studios described the expansion by stating, “Before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, the Master Chief and Sgt Johnson take part in Operation: Meteorite, in which they infiltrate a mysterious Covenant ship on a clandestine assignment. Experience their fight behind enemy lines in the form of three all-new bonus missions included in Halo: Campaign Evolved.”

The developer also confirmed that players who purchase the Premium Edition or Collector’s Edition will receive up to five days of early access beginning July 23, ahead of the game’s full launch on July 28, 2026.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a ground-up remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved built using Unreal Engine 5. Developed by Halo Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios, the project modernizes the campaign experience while preserving the story of Master Chief and Cortana’s battle against the Covenant on the mysterious Halo ringworld.

The game is scheduled to launch on July 28, 2026, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, marking one of the rare occasions that a major Halo release will be available on a PlayStation platform.
