Helldivers 2 is now available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium members, coinciding with the launch of the new Devoid of Liberty update. The update sends players into the dangerous Void, where they will face mutated Illuminate threats and take on new missions.
Devoid of Liberty introduces a new frontier for Helldivers, with planets near the Void showing signs of strange mutations. High Command has ordered reconnaissance operations to gather intelligence as players push deeper into the affected region.
The update adds several new mission objectives, including destroying Illuminate spires and gateways, collecting intelligence and infiltrating Illuminate structures. Players will also encounter secondary objectives such as eliminating Void mutations and recovering materials for research.
Some missions will offer the option to establish a second extraction zone, potentially giving squads another way to evacuate when the situation becomes too dangerous.
New enemies are also emerging from the Void. The Wretch is a fast-moving creature capable of overwhelming exposed players and avoiding counter-attacks, while the larger Crusher can absorb significant damage and deal heavy blows of its own. The Crusher can also regenerate, requiring squads to bring it down before it recovers.
Helldivers will now have access to all 300 security access ranks and their associated privileges, along with new rank titles. SEAF platoons can also be deployed during operations, arriving via dropships to fight alongside players.
These SEAF troops can provide medical assistance through stims and interact with Helldivers through actions such as saluting, shaking hands and hugging.
The arrival of Helldivers 2 on the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog gives Extra and Premium subscribers access to the cooperative shooter starting today. Players can also take part in a new community challenge requiring Helldivers worldwide to eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18.
If the community reaches the target, four Helldiver PlayStation avatars will be unlocked.
