Lies of P Complete Edition has earned a Metacritic score of 86 following its Nintendo Switch 2 launch, giving the Soulslike franchise its highest rating to date. NEOWIZ and NOUGH Studio say the reception reflects their efforts to preserve the game’s combat and overall experience while adapting it for Nintendo’s new hardware.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version was developed with both docked and handheld play in mind. According to NOUGH Studio Director Jiwon Choi, the team focused on retaining the combat precision found in the versions available on other platforms while ensuring the game felt responsive when played in handheld mode.
Lies of P Complete Edition is designed to maintain a stable 60 frames per second in both docked and handheld modes. The developers also worked to preserve the game’s Belle Époque-inspired setting, including its Gothic environments and detailed textures, while adapting the visuals for Nintendo Switch 2.
The Complete Edition brings the original Lies of P experience to Nintendo Switch 2 alongside its prequel expansion, Lies of P: Overture. The original game launched in September 2023 and reimagines Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio as a darker fantasy adventure.
The game has attracted attention for its combat system and interpretation of the classic Pinocchio story. Alongside Overture, Lies of P has now surpassed 4 million units in cumulative sales.
NOUGH Studio says the response to the Nintendo Switch 2 release will provide useful lessons for its future projects. NEOWIZ also hopes the Complete Edition will introduce the franchise to more players around the world as it continues to expand the Lies of P series.
