Insiders have hinted that Nintendo is working on new entries in the Super Smash Bros, Nintendogs, and Star Fox series alongside Luigi’s Mansion 4.
The claims come from insiders malo932 and NecroFelipe, who have shared information about several Nintendo projects in development for Switch 2. The former hinted that a new Nintendogs game is in development, teasing the return of a “forgotten” cozy Nintendo franchise with a playful reference to barking. The insider also indicated that a new Super Smash Bros title is coming, specifically stating that it is not a Switch 2 port of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Additionally, they claimed that a 3D Mario game, Wario World, and a 2D Metroid game are also in the works.
Furthermore, according to malo932, future Mario Kart World DLC is expected to feature Star Fox protagonist Fox McCloud. According to them, it will arrive sometime in 2027. The insider clarified that a Star Fox Adventures-style game is still in development for Switch 2. However, they appeared to distinguish the project from a different “classic” Star Fox game, suggesting that both titles are simultaneously in development, possibly across multiple teams. Velan Studios, the developer behind the 2026 remake of Star Fox 64, may well be working on one of these titles.
Meanwhile, fellow insider NecroFelipe corroborated malo932’s information while adding that Nintendo is also working on Luigi’s Mansion 4, and that the game is coming soon. He jokingly said that malo932 had forgotten to mention Luigi, adding that the fourth game shouldn’t take long to hit store shelves. “Malo932 forgot to mention Luigi, poor Mario’s brother… even I’m missing that flashlight of his Good thing the fourth game shouldn’t take long to come out.”
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct is scheduled to happen on September 8, 2026, at 7 AM Pacific Time, followed by a general Nintendo Direct on September 9 at the same time. If Luigi’s Mansion 4 is indeed coming soon, it’s possible that the console maker will reveal it during the upcoming presentation.
