Behaviour Interactive has officially confirmed that Jason Voorhees will finally join Dead by Daylight on June 16, 2026, ending years of fan requests and speculation surrounding the iconic horror character’s absence from the game.
The Friday the 13th slasher’s arrival marks one of the most anticipated crossovers in Dead by Daylight’s history. For nearly a decade, Jason remained notably missing from the game despite Behaviour steadily building a massive roster of horror icons from film, television, gaming, and anime.
Dead by Daylight currently features nearly 40 killers, combining original creations with licensed characters from major horror franchises. Over the years, the multiplayer horror title has added characters such as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Springtrap, and Tokyo Ghoul’s Ken Kaneki alongside its own original killers.
Jason Voorhees’ absence had long been attributed to the complicated legal disputes surrounding the Friday the 13th franchise rights, which prevented broader use of the character across games and other media for several years.
That situation changed following the creation of the “Jason Universe” initiative, an effort aimed at expanding and revitalizing the Friday the 13th brand across multiple entertainment projects.
Behaviour Interactive officially revealed that the hockey-masked killer would finally enter “The Fog” during the game’s ongoing tenth anniversary celebrations, bringing one of horror’s most recognizable slasher villains into the roster alongside many of his cinematic contemporaries.
The crossover represents one of the largest community wishlist additions in Dead by Daylight’s history and closes a longstanding chapter of speculation surrounding whether Jason would ever become playable in the game.
Dead by Daylight is currently available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms.
