Kena: Scars of Kosmora Delayed to 2027

Kena: Scars of Kosmora will now launch in 2027, with developer Ember Lab delaying the upcoming adventure to give the team additional time to polish its expanded experience. The game is in development for PS5 and PC.

Ember Lab said the additional development time will allow it to deliver a game that improves on the quality of its 2021 debut, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, while also offering a significantly larger scope. The studio has also shared new details about the game’s story and setting.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora follows Kena, a Spirit Guide who has spent years helping the dead move on by confronting manifestations of their pain and Corruption. However, she has yet to fully understand her role in helping the living or confront her own past.

Her childhood friend Orfio believes the mysterious island of Kosmora could hold answers for both of them. Kena travels there to learn more about her history and her future as a Spirit Guide.

Kosmora was once home to four interconnected cultures, each shaped by one of the four elements. The island’s ancient Spirit Guides developed a system centred around these elements and Alchemystic Temples, although a mysterious cataclysm eventually destroyed one of the cultures.

The temples will form a major part of the adventure, functioning as dungeon-like experiences that test players’ skills and provide rewards that help Kena progress. The island is also home to several living cultures, each with its own history, values and struggles.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora will feature a larger world than Bridge of Spirits, with players able to venture beyond the main path. Kena will also have a crystalline canine companion that serves as a mount and assists in combat, including mounted combat, while also helping solve Alchemystic puzzles.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is scheduled to release in 2027 for PS5 in physical and digital formats, as well as PC digitally.
