Dotemu and Tribute Games have announced the first wave of downloadable content for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, confirming that Cyclops and The Thing are joining the arcade-style beat ‘em up today as part of the game’s first paid DLC pack. The studios also revealed that the co-op brawler has now surpassed 1.5 million players since launch.

The new DLC is now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for $3.99. According to the developers, the update expands the playable roster with two fan-favorite Marvel characters, each bringing their own combat style and abilities to the game’s tag-team brawling system.

The Fantastic Four’s The Thing joins the roster as a grappling-heavy tank character focused on close-range combat and crowd control. Tribute Games said the hero combines brute strength with surprising mobility, allowing players to move quickly through stages while overpowering enemies with wrestling-inspired attacks.

Cyclops, meanwhile, enters the fight as a ranged-focused fighter using his iconic optic blasts. The X-Men leader can fire energy beams diagonally, giving players more options against airborne enemies and larger enemy groups. The developer described Cyclops as one of the most requested additions from the community since the game’s launch.

Alongside the first DLC release, Dotemu also confirmed that a second paid expansion is scheduled to arrive in Fall 2026. While details remain limited for now, the studio said the update will introduce an entirely new game mode, along with additional playable heroes and villains. More information is expected later this year.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion launched as a retro-inspired co-operative beat ‘em up featuring tag-team gameplay through its Cosmic Swap mechanic. Players can switch between characters mid-combat while battling through locations inspired by Marvel comics, including New York City and the Negative Zone. The story centers on Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave, which threaten the galaxy, as heroes and villains team up to stop the invasion.

The current playable roster includes characters such as Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Venom, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Nova, Black Panther, Rocket Raccoon, and Phoenix, among others.
