Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has received an update focused on reducing performance issues, improving stability, and fixing problems across gameplay, matchmaking, replays, rankings, and other modes. The PC version also receives performance improvements aimed at reducing heavy processing loads during matches.
The update fixes several gameplay issues involving characters and assists, while PS5 players will no longer lose certain settings after restarting the game. Matchmaking has also been adjusted for Ranked and Casual Matches, although previous replay data will no longer be accessible following the replay fixes.
PC Performance Improvements
- Fixed issues that could cause heavy processing loads to occur periodically during matches.
PS5 Fixes
- Fixed an issue where online battle settings, lobby avatar customisation settings, and team building settings could reset after restarting the game.
- Fixed an issue where players could automatically forfeit a match for failing to press the Participate button within a specific window, even when they were still within the eligible time limit.
General Gameplay Fixes
- Fixed an issue where badge progress shown on the battle result screen was not saved correctly.
- Fixed an issue that allowed unintended follow-up attacks after landing Champion’s Cosmic Smash.
- Fixed an issue where Crossover would not activate while a button was being held during guarding.
- Fixed an issue where an Assist could become unavailable after a member change if its cooldown had not completed.
- Fixed an issue where Carnage’s Guillotine Axe could cause the camera to move to a difficult-to-see position when hitting an opponent at a high position.
- Updated dash and backdash inputs, using left twice and right twice, so they can only be performed after passing through the neutral position.
- Fixed an issue where Peni Parker’s Cyber Web and Assemble Assist Shooter could become invisible while retaining their hitboxes.
- Fixed an issue where the camera did not switch correctly when performing a Tōkon Finish outside of the final round.
- Fixed an issue where an opponent could remain in an attacked state and become unable to move during Spider-Man’s Web Slam.
Character Lessons
Green Goblin
- Updated the Level Up Mission 1 and Level Up Mission 5 requirements.
- The Skyscraper mid-combo objective can now be completed while riding the glider.
Deadpool
- Fixed issues with the Level Up Mission 5 Burning Haymaker challenge.
- Landing Foot Dive after a grounded Death From Above will no longer incorrectly complete the mission.
- Landing Burning Haymaker while holding an Incendiary Grenade will now correctly complete the mission.
Episode Mode
- Fixed an issue where a boss character could repeat the same actions after a timeout under certain circumstances.
Arcadia Rumble
- Fixed an issue that could occasionally cause the multiplayer mode menu screen to freeze.
Open Lobby
- Fixed an issue where some sound effects could continue playing after leaving the Open Lobby.
- Fixed an issue where the network compatibility icon was not displayed correctly in Lobby Select.
Online Matches
- Adjusted matchmaking for Ranked Matches and Casual Matches.
- Fixed an issue where activities could fail to finish correctly in Room Matches using certain rules.
Replay
- Fixed issues that could prevent replays from saving or playing back correctly.
- Previous replay data will no longer be accessible or viewable following the update due to changes to replay functionality.
Ranking
- Fixed an issue where the Ranking screen could not scroll down under certain circumstances.
- Fixed an issue that displayed an incorrect phase number.
Trophies and Achievements
- Fixed an issue where the number of matches played was not correctly counted towards unlocking the I Can Do This All Day trophy or achievement.
Additional Notes
- The PC patch is larger due to changes and optimisations made to the PC version.
- PC players should complete the shader warm-up before playing for a smoother experience.
- New PS5 players may encounter a known initial setup issue where the game loops between selecting the game logo and system language.
- Players should wait until the full game has finished downloading before attempting the initial setup again.
- A permanent fix is planned for a future patch.
