Skyrim Update Increases Console Mod Storage to 15 GB

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition has received its August 20 update, increasing mod storage to 15 GB on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox. The update also brings several improvements to the Creations system, including better sorting, bundling, reporting options, and storefront support.

The Creation Kit has also received new features and fixes, while the update addresses several crashes and other issues affecting Creations, Load Orders, searches, and the Creation Kit. PlayStation 4 users will also see their Creations storage expanded to approximately 16 GB, with some platform-specific limitations.

Added and Updated Features

Game

  • Increased mod storage to 15 GB on PlayStation 5 and Xbox.

  • Updated Search and Replace to align with Starfield.

  • Enabled multiple master loads by default, with the option to configure this normally.
  • Added Achievement-Friendly options for Xbox and Trophy-Friendly options for PlayStation for eligible Skyrim Creations released through the Verified Creators program.
    • Updated Creations require starting a new game for this functionality to work.
  • Added support for Bink files in Creation uploads through an Extra Files browser.
  • Added archive support for PlayStation Creations.
    • Supported file types now include .nif, .dds, .bink, .wav, and .fuz with embedded .wav files.

Crash Fixes

Game

  • Fixed a crash when opening the Virtual Keyboard on Steam Deck.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when selecting an empty search result in the Creations menu.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when transforming into a new race.

Creation Kit

  • Fixed a crash when closing the Sound Descriptor dialogue.
  • Fixed a crash when analysing loot in a new encounter zone.
  • Fixed a crash when clicking the Make Use Info button in certain menus.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when reloading a mod without an associated Masterfile.

Bug Fixes

Game

  • Free Creations from Verified Creators now correctly appear in the Verified Creators store category.
  • Fixed Search navigation so exiting Search while viewing a specific Creation now returns to its Details page.
  • Fixed incorrect version numbers sometimes appearing for installed Creations in the pause menu.
  • Fixed formatting issues affecting Creation titles.
  • Fixed an issue where visual pricing in the Creations store did not always update when an item went on sale without changing menus.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Anniversary Edition Creations from automatically downloading on PlayStation 5.
  • Fixed search strings clipping through text when searching for Creations.
  • Updated the Verified Creator category so it sorts by latest rather than alphabetically.
  • Improved consistency when enabling items in the Load Order.
  • Deleting all Creations now only removes mods downloaded from the Store rather than those loaded through other methods.
  • Fixed failures when uploading or restoring a Load Order containing a mod or Creation that is no longer available on the Marketplace.
  • Fixed failures when uploading or restoring Load Orders containing many mods.
  • Improved Creations store loading efficiency.

Creation Kit

  • Standardised capitalisation of platform-specific .bsa binaries to prevent runtime errors.
  • Fixed duplication of pre-existing forms when archiving new forms in a plugin that relies on existing assets.
  • Fixed an issue where Creation submissions could incorrectly tag a file as a Masterfile and cause infinite data reloads.
  • Fixed Cell forms not populating correctly across all tabs when accessed through the Cell View window.
  • Altered forms no longer count as new forms when creating a plugin.
  • Improved compression consistency when using Create Archives or Upload for meshes and miscellaneous archives.
  • Fixed an issue where browsing IDs in the World Spaces window could alter forms.
  • Fixed an error message that could appear when opening Creation Kit while Bethesda.net services were offline.

Miscellaneous

  • Updated the game credits.
