Marvel’s Wolverine recorded the third-largest PS5 launch in the UK this year based on boxed sales, according to Christopher Dring of The Game Business. The game launched behind Resident Evil and 007, while placing ahead of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced.
Dring reported that Marvel’s Wolverine’s boxed launch was 60% lower than Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and marginally below Ghost of Yotei. Its physical launch was also nearly three times larger than Death Stranding 2.
When questioned about the comparison with Death Stranding 2, Dring explained that he was using recently released comparable titles.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave UK Launch
Dring also shared early UK physical sales information for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. The game’s launch was 26% below Fire Emblem: Three Houses and broadly similar to Fire Emblem: Engage.
When one commenter suggested that matching Engage’s launch with a smaller installed base would represent a particularly strong result, Dring cautioned against directly comparing sales with console install bases. He explained that “New console buyers often gets more casual as generations go on.”
Dring nevertheless described Fortune’s Weave’s launch as “decent” when asked about its performance. He also confirmed that the proportion of digital sales has increased somewhat compared with the launch of Fire Emblem: Engage, although he expects the first-week split to remain broadly similar.
Marvel’s Wolverine launched worldwide on September 15, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Developed by Insomniac Games, it is the latest major PlayStation release from the studio behind Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank.
